SYDNEY – Former assistant Andrej Lemanis was hired Wednesday as the head coach of Australia's national basketball team.
The 44-year-old Lemanis has coached the New Zealand Breakers in the National Basketball League for the last eight seasons and recently led the team to its third consecutive title.
He served as an assistant to former head coach Brett Brown at the 2010 world championships and the 2012 London Olympics, where the team finished seventh.
