The Kansas City Royals have been using shortstop Alcides Escobar at the leadoff spot so far in the ALCS, and it's working marvelously. Even though Escobar rarely sees a pitch he doesn't like, he's singled and tripled his way into the all-time record books already.
With his bunt single in Game 4 on Tuesday against the Toronto Blue Jays, Escobar accomplished something that hadn't yet been done in league history:
Through the first three games of the ALCS, Escobar was hitting a gaudy .583/.615/.917 as he continues being quite an effective 'table-setter' for Ned Yost's club.
With at least one more game remaining in this series, Escobar could very well step up on Wednesday in Game 5 against Marco Estrada and collect another base hit in the first inning, continuing to put his name in the history books.
