Tim Ambrose scored 19 points, including two free throws with 8 seconds left, as Albany (N.Y.) beat Colgate 63-61 on Wednesday night after losing most of a 16-point lead.

After Ambrose's free throws put the Great Danes (7-6) ahead 63-60, Joe Hoban made 1 of 2 for the Raiders 3 seconds later. Hoban grabbed the rebound but was unable to sink what could have been a tying jumper.

Albany scored the final 12 points of the first half to take a 32-20 lead. Ambrose scored eight of his 12 first-half points during that run.

The Great Danes increased their lead to 44-28 with 11:41 left in the game before the Raiders, led by Hoban, Yaw Gyawu and Brandon James, whittled it down to 61-60 with 9 seconds left.

Hoban finished with 18 points, James 16 and Gyawu 14 for the Raiders (0-10), who lost their first nine games last season and finished 10-19.
