Tuscaloosa, AL (SportsNetwork.com) - Alabama safety Vinnie Sunseri will miss the remainder of the season after suffering a left knee injury in the Crimson Tide's most recent game.

Sunseri got hurt while covering a kickoff during the first quarter of the top- ranked Crimson Tide's 52-0 blowout of Arkansas on Saturday. Head coach Nick Saban confirmed on Monday that the junior will undergo season-ending surgery for the injury, which is believed to be a torn ACL.

An eight-game starter for BCS champion Alabama in 2012, Sunseri had recorded 20 tackles and two interceptions -- both of which he returned for touchdowns -- through seven games this season.

Landon Collins is expected to take Sunseri's place in the starting lineup. The sophomore started a pair of games with All-America candidate Ha Ha Clinton-Dix serving a suspension earlier this season.
