Aaron Hernandez left notes to daughter, girlfriend, report says
Ex-New England Patriot Aaron Hernandez left notes to his 4-year-old daughter and his fiancée before he killed himself in his Massachusetts prison cell, The Boston Herald reported on Friday.
The paper also reported that his brain has been sent to Boston University to be tested for concussion-related anomalies.
The notes were found next to a Bible open to John 3:16. The lines read: “For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
The Herald did not divulge the contents of the note or describe them as suicide notes.
The convicted killer hanged himself after jamming cardboard into tracks of the door of his cell to “impede entry,” the paper reported.
AARON HERNANDEZ FOUND WITH BIBLE VERSE WRITTEN ON FOREHEAD, REPORTS SAY
Steps were being taken to preserve evidence surrounding the suicide even before a judge signed an order to do so, Fox 25 Boston reported Friday.
“There's really no dispute – the dispute, if any, will come what constitutes a thorough and proper investigation. And what evidence, in particular, should be persevered. And that's where they may be some disagreement," Judge Thomas F. McGuire Jr. said, according to the station.
Hernandez was found in his cell with the words “John 3:16” written on his forehead in red magic marker, Fox 25 reported Thursday.
He killed himself five days after a jury cleared him in the 2012 shooting deaths of two men, whom prosecutors alleged he gunned down after one accidentally spilled a drink on him at a Boston nightclub.
AARON HERNANDEZ'S MURDER CONVICTION COULD BE VACATED AFTER HIS DEATH
He already was serving a life sentence for the 2013 slaying of semi-pro football player Odin Lloyd, who was dating the sister of Hernandez's fiancée Shayanna Jenkins.
The Patriots cut him in 2013, shortly after he was arrested in connection with Lloyd's murder.
