If there was any one area on defense where the 49ers struggled in Week 2, it was giving up the big play.
Countless times, Ben Roethlisberger found open receivers leaking behind the 49ers secondary.
"We've got to make sure they're not behind us," head coach Jim Tomsula said, via the San Francisco Chronicle. "We don't want to give up the big play. I've been here nine years, and that's always what we talk about -- stop the run and prevent the big play."
Per the San Francisco Chronicle, the 49ers allowed six pass plays of 28 yards or longer, including four of 41-plus yards.
Against the Cardinals in Week 3, that will be a point of emphasis with Carson Palmer under center and more than willing to take deep shots.
