Santa Clara, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - The San Francisco 49ers have placed disappointing wide receiver Jon Baldwin on waivers, the team announced Sunday.

Baldwin was cut loose to make room for rookie receiver L'Damian Washington, whom the Niners claimed off waivers from the Dallas Cowboys, on the training camp roster.

San Francisco acquired Baldwin, the 26th overall selection of the 2011 NFL Draft, in a trade for another former first-round pick A.J. Jenkins with the Kansas City Chiefs last August. The 6-foot-4 wideout managed only three catches totaling 28 yards in seven games last season.

Baldwin compiled 41 catches for 579 yards with two touchdowns during his two seasons in Kansas City.

Washington had 50 receptions for 893 yards and 10 touchdowns as a senior at Missouri in 2013.
