While the defending national champions are left to clean out their lockers after being stunned in the first round of the NIT — yes, the NIT — the Cardinals rolled into Rupp Arena on Wednesday for the NCAA tournament.
As the overall No. 1 seed, no less.
This isn't the first time the Cardinals (29-5) have played at Rupp in the NCAA tournament. But there's no missing the irony. A year after the Wildcats beat Louisville in the Final Four on their way to the NCAA title, the top-seeded Cardinals begin their chase on Kentucky's home court.
