Rep. Fleming will run to replace Vitter in Senate

Rep. John Fleming will run for the U.S. Senate seat now held by Sen. David Vitter.

Vitter, a Republican who lost his bid for Louisiana governor last month, announced he will not run again for the Senate seat, creating an opening for Fleming, who is also a Republican.

Fleming told reporters on Tuesday morning a formal announcement is coming "soon."

Vitter has held the Senate seat since 2005.
