President Will Address Peace Prize Conflict

Last week President Obama announced he was sending 30,000 more American troops to Afghanistan.  One week later, he'll accept the Nobel Peace Prize in Oslo, Norway.  During Wednesday's White House briefing, one reporter asked spokesman Robert Gibbs if the President was embarrassed to accept the prize while "escalating a war."   Gibbs said President Obama will address that very notion during his acceptance speech but the President is proud of "the steps that this administration has taken to re-engage the world...some of that re-engagement is to bring increased peace and stability to this big planet."

Gibbs also said the President has not decided which charities to give the $1.4 million in prize money.  The President and First Lady travel overnight to Oslo, Norway where the President will accept the Nobel Peace Prize during Thursday's ceremony.
