President Obama Heads to Chicago for Campaign Fundraising

Two million dollars. That's the figure President Obama is expected to bring in Thursday evening in Chicago as he headlines three fundraising events in the Windy City.

It will be his first stop to the city hosting his campaign headquarters since he officially launched his re-election last week. It's a tad unusual to have a presidential re-election headquartered outside of Washington -- President Carter was the last one to do so -- but officials were opting for an outside-the-beltway tone to the campaign.

The first fundraisers will take place in Chicago restaurants, with about 225 attendees at each dinner, a Democratic source tells Fox News.

The final event at the Navy Pier will have about 2,000 people, and is hosted by Gen44, a group of young supporters jumping in to help for the re-election. Former White House Chief of Staff and Chicago Mayor-elect Rahm Emanuel will be in attendance.

Tickets start at $100 and range up to the max of $35,800.

There will be some celebrity star power as well; Bulls point guard Derrick Rose, Pittsburgh Steeler Rashard Mendhall, and Cub player Ernie Banks are scheduled to attend. Colbie Caillat, a Grammy-award winning singer, will also perform.

Money from the fundraisers raise cash for both the Democratic National Committee and the president's re-election campaign.
