Secretary of State John Kerry and Saudi King Salman pledged additional support to Syrians fighting the Islamic State.

"The secretary thanked the king for Saudi Arabia's support to multilateral efforts to pursue a political transition in Syria," State Department spokesman John Kirby said. "They pledged to continue and intensify support to the moderate Syrian opposition while the political track is being pursued."

Kerry met with a host of Saudi officials in Riyadh Sunday, and dined with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Nayef and Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir, among others, Saturday night, the Wall Street Journal and Reuters report.

There was no further elaboration on the U.S.-Saudi plan to arm fighters in Syria.
