A former adviser to President George W. Bush is reportedly weighing a run against New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand in November.
Dan Senor, a foreign policy adviser to Bush, has spoken with state Republican chairman Ed Cox about a possible run, the New York Post reported Thursday.
Senor, the founder of Rosemont Capital LLC, was one of the first civilians to enter Baghdad less than two weeks after the fall of Iraqi President Saddam Hussein.
He was one of the longest serving civilian officials in Iraq and worked as an adviser to the Office of Reconstruction and Humanitarian Assistance.
Gillibrand, a Democrat, was a congresswoman when she was appointed to the Senate by Gov. David Paterson to replace Hillary Clinton when she became secretary of state in 2009. Former Tennessee Rep. Harold Ford Jr., who now lives in New York, is also considering opposing Gillibrand in a Democratic primary.
