He hopes the open forum will be a chance to silence the charges that he used his office for personal gain and failed to report income from a rental property in the Caribbean. That hearing is set for Thursday afternoon, but Rangel will continue to face questions about whether he has been considering or will accept a settlement to mitigate any possible punishment.
