Gloves found near Nancy Guthrie’s Arizona home traced to restaurant employee, sheriff says

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said the black gloves found closest to Nancy Guthrie's home were traced back to a worker at a nearby restaurant.

Nanos confirmed to Fox News Digital that the gloves in question were found approximately 2.5 miles from Guthrie's home.

He first shared the news with local Tucson outlet KVOA.

"There was some talk and discussion that it was police officers out in the field just discarding them, that is so far from the truth. We knew that at that time, we believed wholeheartedly that those gloves belonged to a restaurant and guess what? The owner of the glove, we found working at a restaurant across the street. It has nothing to do with the case," Nanos told the outlet.

In a post on X, the Pima County Sheriff's Department said DNA found on the gloves helped link them to the local restaurant employee. The department added that the individual is "not part of the investigation."

The department said other DNA evidence is still being tested.

Ring CEO suggests additional surveillance may have helped solve Nancy Guthrie mystery

The CEO and founder of security company Ring doorbells reportedly suggested the Nancy Guthrie case would have already been “solved” if the 84-year-old mother had even more surveillance cameras placed throughout her Arizona home.

“I do believe if they had more of it, if there was more cameras on the house, I think we might, you know, have solved [the case],”  Jamie Siminoff told Fortune

“The video that they have appears to be the best evidence they have of what happened,” he reportedly added.

Siminoff went on to explain why he believes having video surveillance is vital for home security.

“The Nancy Guthrie thing has shown just how important video and more video would be in a case like this,” Siminoff said, according to Fortune. “I think it’s been clear, but I think this is just another example of, like, how important it is to have video at your house.”

The CEO’s comments come after the FBI and Pima County Sheriff’s Office previously released images taken from Nancy Guthrie’s Nest camera showing a masked suspect approaching the front door of her home shortly before she disappeared.

Metal detector sweeps at Nancy Guthrie’s front yard as family gets car back

Volunteers continued searching for missing Tucson woman Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of “Today” co-host Savannah Guthrie, as the investigation entered a new phase Tuesday. Two podcasters, including one using a metal detector, scanned a roadside easement outside Guthrie’s home looking for small items that may have been dropped during the alleged abduction, but said they didn’t find anything.

The search comes more than a month after Guthrie vanished in the early hours of Feb. 1, with authorities saying she is believed to have been abducted.

Additionally, a spokesperson for the Pima County Sheriff’s Department told Fox News Digital that a vehicle belonging to Guthrie’s older daughter, Annie, was in the process of being returned to the family after being taken as part of the probe. Authorities have said Guthrie’s adult children and their spouses are not suspected, and the reward for information leading to her recovery now totals more than $1 million.
