Pope Francis is growing in popularity – on Instagram.

The leader of the Roman Catholic Church joined in the social media site just before Easter Sunday, nearly two weeks ago, and it already has more than 2.2 million followers.

And he is been quite active. In its short time online, the pope's account already has 26 posts including several videos, hugs with the faithful and even a selfie.

“Young people, God is on your side, He believes in you, and He hopes in you!” reads the selfie with awestruck millennials.

Among the millions of followers, Francis can count actors Mario Lopez and Antonio Banderas as well as actress Eva Longoria (who met the Pope during a recent visit to the Vatican).

The tech-savvy pontiff, who uses the handle “Franciscus,” also has a Twitter account that has amassed nearly 8.9 million followers since it debuted in February 2012.

His accounts are managed by the Vatican Secretariat for Communications.
