The National Hispanic Media Coalition (NHMC), a media advocacy and civil rights organization dedicated to the advancement of Latinos, will honor several journalists for their contributions to the industry on Thursday.

It is the organization’s 2nd Annual New York Impact Awards ceremony recognizing such esteemed journalist Emmy Award winning senior anchor of the evening news on Telemundo's New York City affiliate, WNJU, Jorge Ramos, who is receiving an Excellence in Broadcast Journalism award.

Also honored Thursday is Fox 5 New York's general assignment and bilingual reporter, Jessica Formoso, for Excellence in Broadcast Journalism, as well as the civil rights organization LatinoJustice PRLDEF, for Outstanding Service and Commitment to the Latino Community, and Fox News Latino for Excellence in Journalism.

Lynda Baquero, consumer reporter of "Better Get Baquero" on NBC 4 New York, will emcee the event.

Last year, NHMC began a tradition of honoring individuals or entities from the New York area whose achievements, generosity of spirit and courage under fire have greatly benefited the welfare of the Latino community.

Last year's NHMC Impact Award recipients include Jeanine Ramirez (NY1 News), Joe Torres (WABC-TV), Lynda Baquero (NBC 4 New York),  Esteban Creste (Univision 41) and the former Commissioner of the New York City Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment, Cynthia López.

The event gathers over 150 local industry leaders.
