Being a television personality comes with a lot of perks. Getting to live your life without criticism? Not one of them.
Australian Today show presenter Lisa Wilkinson made news this week after the Daily Mail published a story criticizing her for wearing the same blouse on-air twice during a four-month span. The article, which labeled her outfit repeat as “thrifty,” read:
“Lisa Wilkinson looks to have a preference when it comes to attire, seen sporting the same floral shirt, just four months apart. The 57-year-old took to the set on Tuesday in a burgundy cut-out blouse with global detailing, that was previously worn on the program in early December, last year.”
The article also pointed out that this wasn’t the first time the television host “has worn the same outfit twice.”
I am sooo busted! Seems I've been seen hosting breakfast TV wearing same blouse with "strategic cutout above the bust" just 4months apart!!! pic.twitter.com/hx1AaQw2b2— Lisa Wilkinson (@Lisa_Wilkinson) April 11, 2017
Ironically, as Mashable pointed out, her male co-host wore the same exact suit every day for a year as a social experiment. Shockingly, nobody noticed — or, if they did, they didn’t say anything. So when Wilkinson got called out for her outfit repeat, she decided to troll the Daily Mail back in the sassiest way ever:
Her tweet received nearly 1,500 likes, and was re-tweeted 277 times. Then, she took to the TV screens the following day wearing the exact same shirt.
Wilkinson also took to Instagram to joke about the incident:
