A Chinese woman seeking an anti-aging injection has been left blind in one eye after the procedure cause an obstruction in her retinal artery.

Li Xue, 26, chose a small cosmetic clinic in northeast China’s Liaoning Province to perform the procedure and had been receiving regular hyaluronic acid injections in her cheeks and forehead, Central European News (CEN) reported. During her latest procedure, the filler accidentally entered her bloodstream causing a rental arterial obstruction.

Doctors say there is little chance for recovery, CEN reported. Xue said the botched procedure has caused her stress and discomfort.

Hyraluronic acid is used as a filler to support facial structures and tissues that may have lost volume or elasticity due to normal aging, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.

The owner of the clinic is currently under investigation, and his practice has been suspended, CEN reported.
