A Georgetown University student has died from an apparent case of meningitis, according to school officials.

The university says undergraduate student Andrea Jaime died at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital on Tuesday.

The Daily Mail in the U.K. is reporting that Jaime is a native of Bogotá, Colombia, and that several days ago she tweeted about having a 105-degree fever.

"This is what dying must feel like," she wrote.

The school is awaiting test results to confirm the exact cause of death, but say public health officials are working with Georgetown to ensure there is no risk to the rest of the campus community.

“This is difficult news for the many members of the Georgetown community who know Andrea,” said the university in an email to students, faculty and staff. “Georgetown officials have been in touch with Andrea's family and will continue to provide support and assistance to them. Please join us in remembering Andrea's family and friends in your thoughts and prayers during this time.”

Jaime was set to graduate next year from the School of Nursing and Health Studies.

Students, faculty and staff gathered on campus Tuesday night for a private prayer service for Jaime.

University officials are making health and grief counselors available to anyone who may need it.
