International Cuban star CuCu Diamantes headlines the Havana Film Festival New York, which is taking over the Big Apple this weekend.

The annual celebration of Cuban and Latin American films kicks off with Diamantes’ flick, “Amor Crónico,” at the Director Guild of America Theater on Friday.

In the film, Diamantes—whose real name is Ileana Padrón—chronicles her journey in reconnecting with her Cuban roots. “Amor Crónico” was directed by Jorge Perugorría and was produced by Andres Levin, who won a Grammy for his work in the award-winning musical “In the Heights.”

When chatting with Fox News Latino in 2011, at the opening launch party of “The Spot”—a Latin cultural hangout—Diamantes emphasized her love for Latin music and film.

“I’m desperate to launch my two new records,” said Diamantes, who is the co-founder of the popular Cuban band Yerba Buena.
