“Duck Dynasty” star Willie Robertson endorsed GOP hopeful Donald Trump at the 16th annual Outdoor Sportsman Awards in Las Vegas on Thursday night.

"Mr. Trump is a real leader," Robertson said in a press release before the show. "He represents success and strength, two attributes our country needs."

Trump, accompanied by sons Donald and Eric, talked gun control at the event.

“When you look at Paris, when you look at California, when you look at these horrible things that are happening all over the place, people need protection,” Trump said. “We have to get protection. The Second Amendment is very important to me, my two sons are members of the NRA.”

Robertson also told FOX411 how much hunting meant to him and his family.

“Pretty much everything! It is our livelihood; it is what we enjoy,” he said. "It is our hobby and our job, so I think anytime you get to do a job that is also your hobby well I think that’s what most of us want to pull off.”

Eva Shockey of “Jim Shockey’s Hunting Adventures,” who presented an award at the show, is also a big Trump fan.

“The most exciting part about the awards show is that we often have a special guest and this year Donald Trump is coming, which is really unheard of in our industry,” she said. “Obviously he is not necessarily a hunter, per se, but a lot of people who are at the show are going to be big supporters of him and like his message.”

Robertson, who introduced Trump at the show, recently announced with his wife Korie that they are in the process of adopting a 13-year-old son. Brother Jep Robertson and wife also just introduced their four-month old adopted son, Gus.

“Our kids keep us young,” Willie told FOX411. “We do have a new boy with us, Jep and Jessica have adopted a boy as well, so the family keeps expanding and we love all of our children and it has been a great time. It was a great Christmas.”
