Adult film studio Vivid Entertainment was preparing to release a steamy sex tape of Mindy McCready entitled “Baseball Mistress” on April 19th,  but it looks as though fans will have to wait a little longer to see the country crooner get down and dirty.

Pop Tarts has learned exclusively that Vivid has now put the release on hold while they take further legal steps to prove they have the right to distribute it. However Vivid’s founder/co-chairman Steven Hirsch remains confident that the tape will indeed see the light of day.

"We've decided to take a little extra time to study all of our documentation and other clearances before we proceed," Hirsch said. "I want a chance to review the correspondence from Mindy's attorney, Adam Dread, and to prepare a proper response to the letter he has sent to us."

And Dread is understandably pleased that Vivid is complying with their legal request to further investigate the tape’s origins.

“We are thankful to Steve (Hirsch) for handling this like a gentleman,” Dread told Pop Tarts. “And we know this tape definitely did not come from Mindy.”

“Baseball Diaries” allegedly features McCready engaging in explicit sex with a former boyfriend named “Peter” as well as dishing intimate details about her relationship with baseball star Roger Clemens, among others.

“She is very upset by all of this, but it is what it is,” Dread added. “It comes with being a celebrity. But I can tell you Mindy is coming back and she is doing better than ever.”

McCready braved a smile and made her first public appearance since the scandal broke two weeks ago by volunteering at Nashville’s Annual “Oyster Easter” event over the weekend to benefit the Community Resource Center.
