A Swedish porn star risked her life after she jumped into a Spanish bullfighting ring to try and help a dying bull.
Amina Axelsson, who lives in Spain, jumped over the barrier at the bullfighting ring in Malaga this weekend with a banner that read “Stop Bullfighting.” She wanted to reach the bull and comfort it.
Before Axelsson, 41, could reach the animal, she was grabbed by the matador’s assistants and dragged out of the ring.
Axelsson, who has been in the adult film industry for about four years, told the Daily MailOnline that she wasn’t “prepared” for what she was going to see at the bullfight.
“I was there with a friend who is a veterinarian,” she said. “We both started crying and shaking, we were in so much shock.”
So she got the courage to jump in and make her way to the bull.
“I managed to jump into the arena, but by then they bull had got up again,” Axelsson said. “He clearly didn’t want to die. I couldn’t go to the bull.”
She added: “I was in so much shock, I had so much adrenaline… My plan B was to put the sign up and I almost managed to get it up, but they grabbed me really, really hard and pulled me from there. They were really mad.”
Axelsson was arrested and faces fines.
“It was a symbolic act to show that we are thinking about the bull," she told Swedish newspaper The Local. “I was nervous about doing it… but more nervous about police than the bull.”
The porn star is no stranger to doing unusual things in the name of animal rights. During a bullfighting protest in Pamplona last year, she stripped and painted her body with pictures of animals.
She was quickly praised by PETA.
"No animal should have to endure an agonizing and unnecessary death for the enjoyment of a crowd," Axelsson said via a statement release by the organization. “I join together with PETA to urge all compassionate people to stop these cruel events, which have been condemned internationally, by never attending a bullfight.”
Axelsson is not the first animal rights protestor to jump into the ring. In August, Virginia Ruiz jumped into the ring and was able to reach the dying bull to comfort it.
