Slash and Axl Rose talking again: Could Guns 'N Roses reunite?

If a Swedish TV outlet’s interview with former Guns ‘N Roses guitarist Slash is accurate, it sounds like he and Guns ‘N Roses lead singer Axl Rose are talking again.

Which now has everyone asking: could the original Guns ‘N Roses lineup reunite?

After decades of not speaking to Rose, and rarely even speaking about him, Slash told Aftonbladet TV that the lines of communication had recently reopened.

“It was probably way overdue, you know,” Slash said. “But it’s…you know, it’s very cool at this point. You know, let some of that, sort of, negative … dispel some of that negative stuff that was going on for so long.”

So why could this development lead to a Guns ‘N Roses reunion? Guns ‘N Roses never really went away, having soldiered on with Rose as its frontman along with various sidemen. But current guitarists Bubmblefoot and DH Ashba have both reportedly quit, and Guns ‘N Roses replacement bass player Tommy Stinson looked like he was having a blast playing with his recently reunited band, The Replacements.

So Aftonbladet TV went there, asking Slash if the previously unthinkable could actually happen.

“Oh, I couldn’t answer that one, though,” Slash hedged. “ All right, let’s get off the subject, ’cause, you know, that’s an old one.”

When Guns 'N Roses was inducted into the rock and roll Hall of Fame in 2012, everyone in the original lineup showed up -- except Axl.

But in 2014, Slash called Axl "one of the greatest singer/frontmen guys to come along ever"as well as a "brilliant lyricist" and "super, super intelligent, very astute individual."

Guns ‘N Roses sans the original lineup only released a single album, "Chinese Democracy." All of the band’s best work was recorded with the original crew.
