Shakira and Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff are joining forces in an effort to improve the well-being of children in the South American country.

The two met briefly before reporters in Brasilia prior to a scheduled concert there.

Shakira and Rousseff discussed the singer's Alas Foundation, which promotes early-childhood development in Latin America.

After the meeting, Shakira handed Rousseff an autographed guitar.

Shakira said she plans to visit Panama and Mexico to discuss similar causes.
