Nick Cannon has been released from the hospital after suffering from "mild kidney failure" and was recovering at home Monday.

"Nick Cannon was released over the weekend to be with his family. He is resting and recovering at home and would like to thank everyone who has expressed concern, well wishes and prayers," his rep told People magazine.

Fans were shocked last week when Cannon's superstar wife, Mariah Carey, revealed that the 31-year-old was suffering from the condition.

He was hospitalized Jan. 5 in Aspen, Colo., where their family was vacationing, and was then transferred to a hospital in Los Angeles one day later.

Cannon, a rapper and host of "America's Got Talent," also presents a live morning radio show and plans to return to work on Jan. 17.

Carey kept fans up to date with photos of the pair snuggled in a hospital bed and thanked well-wishers for their thought and prayers.

"Nick is getting better+we love+appreciate all the ongoing kind words!" she tweeted over the weekend.

Carey, 41, married Cannon in 2008. She gave birth to twins on the couple's third wedding anniversary on April 30, 2011.
