Miley Cyrus has proven she knows how to get attention and she’s done it again: closing the American Music Awards Sunday night by performing “Wrecking Ball” with a giant lip-synching cat. It feels a lot like a fever dream, but there’s video to prove it actually happened.
Miley hit the stage wearing some giant lucite accessories as a cat, who’s memorized all the words to “Wrecking Ball” (like the rest of us), flew through space behind her.
The performance was notably more subdued than her instant classic VMAs performance this year and, if you can get past the cat, the performance showcases her vocals quite nicely. Though there’s a nice nod to the controversial VMAs performance at the very end.
