Salsa singer Marc Anthony is fine-tuning his acting skills.

Joining the cast of TNT’s “Hawthorne,” Anthony will play a police detective called Nick Renata.

The performer has made a few appearances as the character in two episodes last season.

Returning for its third season in June, the medical series will include stars such as Jada Pinkett Smith and Christina Hawthorne.

Anthony’s wife, Jennifer López is already on the air as a judge on Fox's "American Idol."

The couple starred together in the film "El Cantante," about the life of salsa pioneer Héctor Lavoe.

Anthony's other film credits include Martin Scorsese's "Bringing Out the Dead" and "Man on Fire."

He also starred alongside Salma Hayek in the film “En el tiempo de la mariposas,” the story about the Mirabal sisters, political activists who stood up to Dominican Dictator Rafael Trujillo’s regime.
