'Love Actually' star Olivia Olson is all grown up

The 10-year-old that made a splash with her rendition of “All I Want for Christmas” in the 2003 film “Love Actually” is all grown up and still performing.

Olivia Olson, who played Joanna in the romantic comedy, appeared on Australian TV’s “The Morning Show” to discuss her role in the movie and where she’s come all these years later. Although she got her start at an early age, she’s continued to work, both musically and using her voice for animated projects like “Adventure Time” and “Phineas and Ferb.”

While she’s aged into her role, her start was far from the typical Hollywood story.

“I went behind my dad’s back, me and my mom, and we got an acting agent and [‘Love Actually’] was actually the first thing I ever auditioned for, and I surprisingly booked it. But, I didn’t think I did very well. I didn’t get a call back until three months later so… I thought I bombed it.”

Fortunately, she was called back and she had the chance to show off her impressive pipes, even at a young age. In fact, she told the chat show hosts that her voice had to be lowered in quality for the film as the director thought her audition was too good to be a believable 10-year-old.

“So, we went in and I did the first take and they were like, ‘OK Olivia, that was great, one second.’ Then things just went silent and I could see all the adults conversing, and I thought I did really bad or something like that.”

Olson has come a long way since the singing scene in the 2003 movie. She appeared on the talk show in order to promote a new book that she helped write. It’s the personal journal of her character from “Adventure Time,” Marceline. She continues to make music and work with her father every day.
