Jennifer Lopez is not quite ready to let her heart take the plunge yet.

Sources close to the superstar told E! News that she and (now former) “Dancing with the Stars” hunk Maksim Chmerkovskiy “have been talking a lot and she thinks he is great, but she is being very careful.”

The source added that Lopez does not want her kids meeting another guy just yet.

This makes sense considering the 45-year-old “First Love” singer recently ended her two-plus year relationship with Casper Smart, who reportedly had a very close relationship with Lopez’s twins Max and Emme.

“They do text and communicate and she is open to dating in general right now,” a source said. “She still believes true love exists and wants to find that someday.”

That said, Lopez has remained tight-lipped about her rumored relationship and Chmerkovskiy has remained coy when asked about the singer as of late.

“I have a lot of friends and a lot of them are coming tonight. I’m focuses on dancing. I’m not interested in talking about anything other than the show,” the dancing veteran told People magazine on Saturday before his performance of “Sway: A Dance Trilogy” in Westbury, N.Y.

Lopez did not show, but that didn’t stop more questions to be asked – especially when he was spotted at her 45th birthday bash last week.

Andy Cohen, host of “Watch What Happens Live,” mentioned that he saw the dancer at the party and he asked Lopez’s best friend Leah Remini about the relationship.

“Leah Remini said you’re not together, but everybody keeps reporting that you’re together,” Cohen said.

Chmerkovskiy responded with a smile: “Well, (Leah)’s the authority on everything J.Lo so we should listen.”

Lopez and Chmerkovskiy met last November for her performance at the American Music Awards and have been romantically linked since the start of the summer.
