Relatives of Jan Hooks spoke about their loss to The New York Daily News but admitted to feeling relief that she is longer suffering.
“All I can say is that Jan was not well for quite some time,” cousin Susan Morgan Brown from Cedartown, Ga., said.
She declined to say what the 57-year-old actress died from deferring to the “Saturday Night Live” cast member’s brother, Tom Hooks, who also lives in Georgia.
“We will miss her terribly, but it is gratifying to see the outpouring of good wishes from so many people online,” Tom Hooks said. He also declined to discuss the nature of her illness.
“We were awfully proud of Jan,” her brother added. “She flew my mother and me to New York twice when she was on ‘SNL.’ ”
