In the FOXlight With Michael Tammero: 'Lee Daniels' The Butler'

The cast of "Lee Daniels' The Butler" sat down with In the FOXLight's Michael Tammero ahead of the film's August 16 release.

Several members of the ensemble cast shared what it was like to make the historical drama inspired by the story of a White House butler named Eugene Allen.

Oscar-winning actor Forest Whitaker, who portrays the film's title character, said making the movie was an "unbelievable" experience.

“Everybody who was involved in the movie really cared about it, they were invested in it,” he said. “You could feel it all the time. You don’t get that very often.”

Director Lee Daniels said the project was one of the hardest he’s ever tackled.

“I’m used to having a couple of days, maybe a year to span,” Daniels said of shooting a movie that takes place across several decade.

Tammero couldn't resist asking about working with talk show queen Oprah Winfrey.

“Who?” joked co-star Cuba Gooding, Jr.
