Gwen Stefani has opened up about her ex-husband’s alleged affair with their Australian nanny, saying she “went through a real period of anger.”

Stefani’s 13-year marriage to singer Gavin Rossdale came to an end amid allegations he had cheated on the superstar with an employee.

The Voice coach told Vanity Fair magazine she had drawn on her personal heartache for her new album "This Is What the Truth Feels Like."

Stefani revealed that the first single, "Used to Love You," was her first step in moving on from the past.

She said she felt “scared and insecure” at the thought of getting back into songwriting.

“I went through a real period of anger, but I felt like this song was almost like a forgiveness song,” she told Vanity Fair. “It’s admitting, I used to love you and now I don’t.”

The mother of three sons is now dating country singer Blake Shelton.
