Gloria Estefan wasn’t kidding when she tweeted in December: “Next year is going to be VERY busy for me! Lots of surprises!”

CW Network has announced that the singing sensation will be a mentor on “The Star Next Door,” a new talent show that will launch this summer.

The show will be produced by none other than Queen Latifah and Dave Broome, the creator of “The Biggest Loser” on NBC. Country crooner John Rich will join Estefan as a mentor.

The show aims to go on “a nationwide search for undiscovered artists on the verge of stardom,” according to press reports.

The network’s announcement about the show said it would be a “new take on the music competition genre.”

The announcement added that the show “will travel to where the talent is, immersing themselves in the lives and towns of these local performers and preparing them for the chance to represent their home city on stage, live, in front of America.”

Gloria Estefan Confirm Glee Gig

Rolling Stone magazine said CW has ordered 10 episodes of the series for the summer season.

The magazine continued: “The Star Next Door will slightly tweak the formula of other popular singing competitions by placing an emphasis on the home towns of contestants. The show will begin with a nationwide talent search, and then the mentors will head to the top singers' homes and immerse themselves in the local culture.”

The mentoring gig is the latest part of a roll Estefan has been on lately.

She has released “Miss Little Havana,” her first English-language album in eight years. The Cubana whirlwind also has put out the music video for her single “Hotel Nacional.”

Then there’s her much-anticipated appearance on “Glee,” on which she’ll play Santana's mother.

Very busy and lots of surprises -- indeed!
