Gisele Bündchen to release limited edition book for $700 - yes, that's the price

Gisele Bündchen wants her fans to celebrate her 20 years in the fashion business with a new limited Collector’s Edition coffee table book that will cost a whopping $700.

According to the book’s publisher, Taschen Books, the 536-page hardcover will feature more than 300 photographs of the Brazilian model illustrating her expansive career that started when she was only 14 years old. The book, which will have her legendary nude portrait by Irving Penn on the cover, was “curated and designed by Gisele in collaboration with Giovanni Bianco.”

The German publishing company said tributes by Bündchen’s closest friends and family as well as fashion leaders will accompany the images.

Each of the 1,000 copies printed will be signed by the model.

In April, the 34-year-old model officially retired from the runway at the Sao Paulo Fashion Week.

More On This...

"Today after 20 years in the industry, it is a privilege to be doing my last fashion show by choice and yet still be working in other facets of the business," she posted in an Instagram at that time. "I am grateful that at 14, I was given the opportunity to start this journey.”

Bündchen was born and raised along with five sisters, including a fraternal twin, in the southern state of Rio Grande do Sul, a center of German immigration to Brazil. After she was discovered as a teen, she traveled to New York City to launch her career.

By age 20, she had become a fashion sensation, her freckled face and flowing, dirty blond locks gracing the cover of top fashion magazines worldwide, and her unique combination of legginess and curves causing a sensation during runway appearances. Bündchen's success was heralded as marking the end of the sickly, skinny and bedraggled "heroin chic" look that had dominated runways for years.
