Singer George Michael was a trembling, crack-addicted wreck until he finally checked into to an expensive Swiss rehab clinic last summer, a relative told The Sun of Britain.

The Kusnacht Practice facility charges $290,000 a month for inpatient treatment.

A year later, Michael, 52, is continuing outpatient treatment there, said Jackie Georgiou, wife of the singer’s cousin Andros Georgiou, the paper reported.

“He was smoking crack. Before he went away, he got to the point where he would be shaking, saying, ‘I need it,’” Jackie Georgiou told the paper of the former Wham! heartthrob.

“There were parties where he was taking drugs and collapsing and being picked up off the floor,” she said.

“Waking up in vomit, horrible things. He was so thin, so ill.”

Michael is now off drugs but still drinking, she added.

Michael sold more than a million albums and singles in his heyday.
