Turner took to her Instagram Stories to react to the scene involving the characters played by Maisie Williams, 22, and Joe Dempsie, 31, that took many viewers by surprise and left some cringing. In Sunday night’s episode, 18-year-old Arya Stark lost her virginity to Gendry, a former travel partner who is the bastard son of late King Robert Baratheon.
“In honor of Easter, I guess Game of Thrones wanted the storyline to have a little Easter Bunny hop, hop, hoppin’ into that p---y, and that’s the tea,” Turner said in a video posted on her Instagram stories.
Turner, who plays Sansa Stark in the HBO series, is wearing a white robe and chugs her glass of red wine after making the comment. She also tagged Williams' Instagram in the video.
Turner told Entertainment Weekly on Monday that she called Williams to alert her about the sex scene the second she read the script.
“I called Maisie and was like: ‘Have you read it [the script] yet?’” Turner told the magazine. “And she’s like, ‘I’m midway through episode one.’ And I’m like: This scene, this page, read it! This is awesome! She was very happy.”
Williams said she initially thought the scene was a prank until showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss confirmed it was really happening. She added that it sank in she was going to be doing her first sex scene by the final season table read.
“I got to the read-through and I’m reading the scene and thought, ‘Oh, we’re actually going to do this. When do I shoot this? I need to go to the gym.’ A whole list of things,” Williams told Entertainment Weekly.
Fans took to social media to react to the shocking sex scene and many said they searched Williams’ age.
“Running to google to check Maisie Williams’ age to make sure I didn’t break the law by having my eyes open,” one Twitter user wrote.
“Google: Maisie Williams’ age; 22 #GameOfThrones,” another person tweeted.
“Me watching Arya and Gendry about to get it on even though I pretty much watched Arya grow up,” another tweet read.
