Fire Spreads During LMFAO Concert in Honduras

Party Rockers LMFAO were almost burned while performing in Honduras Wednesday night.

The duo had to bring their concert to a halt when a fire abruptly consumed the Coliseo Nacional de Ingenieros and smoke began invading the air, Honduran daily El Heraldo and entertainment site TMZ report.

No one died in the flames but at least 15 needed medical attention for smoke inhalation.

El Heraldo states that the main cause of the blaze happened because the arena did not meet the basic minimum safety standards to hold the event.

“No longer will temporary permits be granted for events at the Coliseum if the safety measures asked by the fire department are not met,” said Ricardo Alvarez, mayor of the Honduran capital Tegucigalpa.

Despite the warning, Lili Raudales, executive director of the arena said that shows could not be canceled just because of this one incident.

“You can’t just prohibit the Coliseum from having concerts,” Raudales said.

TMZ reports that police officers believe a “criminal hand” set the electrical system on fire. As of yet, no arrests tied to the incident have been confirmed.

Unclear as to how big the fire had been, LMFAO’s Redfoo tweeted at first about it in a joking manner.

“Epic concert tonight!!!!,” Redfoo posted on his Twitter account.”Everybody in Honduras, we set the place on fire!!!!"

"They told us that there was a fire when we were on stage,” he added. “Then we went to the dressing rooms and there was smoke in the halls."

Upon realizing the magnitude of the fire, Redfoo took to sending his regards to those who were injured.

"On a serious note. Hope everybody is safe from the fire tonight! love you Honduras!"
