“Dancing With the Stars” second-runner up Chelsea Kane recently dropped “Staub” from her stage name, but the actress says it has nothing to do with the common assumption that she is related to former “Real Housewives of New Jersey” star Danielle Staub.
But confusion aside, Kane tells FOX 411 she can’t rule out the possibility that she is related to the notorious “Housewife.”
“I got that all the time, people were always asking me if I was related to Danielle Staub. I don’t know, I might be,” she said. “She kind of looks like my dad a little bit. They have the same nose.”
Still, “Housewife” comparison aside, she says Kane is her middle name and what all her friends call her.
“Most of my friends call me by Kane,” she said. “Mark [Ballas from ‘Dancing With the Stars’] calls me Kane. It was always my nickname and it just seemed like the right time to make the change.
“It also means ‘little battler’ so what better name to go into ‘Dancing With the Stars’ with,” she said.
And battle she did. Kane, who said she never expected to make it to the final three, was a fan favorite all season and says she has no bitterness at the way things turned out.
“Any competition you hope to win, but there was no sense of frustration or shock or anger,” she said. “I never saw myself even making it to the finals. So to be in that final three and even have a shot at the mirrorball trophy was already above and beyond my wildest expectations.
“I’ve been in the business for four years and I’m up against Kirstie Alley and Hines Ward. She’s been on hit television series and hit movies and won Emmys and Golden Globes. And Hines is a Super Bowl MVP, a huge sports star and then there’s me, so to even be putting up a fight against these two people who have huge fan bases, I was super honored and super flattered to be there.”
