If you scroll through who Demi Lovato is following on Twitter, you might be surprised to find that her longtime friend, Miley Cyrus, is not one of them. Same with Cyrus.

So what caused the rift between these two former Disney starlets?

There are plenty of rumors. But a popular reason seems to be that the “Neon Lights” singer has started up a new friendship with Mexican actress Eiza Gonzalez, which Cyrus might think is a violation of the girl code.

Gonzalez, who famously hooked up with Cyrus’ ex-fiance Liam Hemsworth just days after their split last year, has been working alongside Lovato’s rumored boyfriend, Wilmer Valderama, on “From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series.”

And it seems like Gonzalez and Lovato, who is part Mexican, have struck up a friendship and have shared images of themselves on social media, according to El Mañana, a Mexican newspaper. And this apparently doesn't sit well with Cyrus.

But Lovato doesn't seem to mind.

According to KPopStarz, Lovato tweeted, “Ain’t nobody got time fo dat!!! #pettybulls --- #toobusykillingit #cutethough #NEONLIGHTSTOUR.”

She also tweeted, “You are who your friends are. You just have SO Much going for you!!!”

The tweets have since been deleted.

But others say the rift stems from Lovato being angry at Cyrus’ assistant, Cheyne Thomas, after she reportedly made fun of Lovato’s substance abuse problems on Instagram last December.
