Christina Aguilera says she’s pudgy and proud of it!

“The Voice” coach, whose weight gain over the past year has been making headlines recently, tells Billboard magazine that she simply “got tired of being a skinny, white girl” and told higher ups in the industry to stop pressuring her about it.

“I am Ecuadorian, but people felt so safe passing me off as a skinny, blue-eyed white girl," Aguilera told the magazine about the music executives who promoted her 2002 promotional tour of her “Stripped” album.

A few months and 15 pounds later, Aguilera says the record label executives went berserk and called a weight intervention.

"They called this serious emergency meeting about how there was a lot of backlash about my weight,” Aguilera said. “Basically, they told me I would affect a lot of people if I gained weight -- the production, musical directors."

Aguilera reveals in the magazine that she was told her record sales would plummet if she got heavier and that hundreds of people’s jobs would be on the line.

She adds that because she was “so young” she did not have the maturity to say anything to her label execs even when she was “toothpick thin” by 2006, when her “Back to Basics” album was released.

But this year, Aguilera said she's had enough.

After reflecting in the studio as she put together her upcoming album “Louts,” being released on Nov. 13, the singer says she worked up the courage to tell her management to back off.

"I told them...'You are working with a fat girl,” said Aguilera. “Know it now and get over it.”

"My body can't put anyone in jeopardy of not making money anymore—my body is just not on the table that way anymore," she added. “They need a reminder sometimes that I don't belong to them. It's my body.”
