Benicio del Toro finds directing and collaborating with artists so gratifying that he plans to continue working behind the camera.

The Puerto Rican actor says working with actors and others "motivates me to dream of trying it again."

"Seven Days" is made up of seven shorts that take place on different days of the week and show different visions of Cuban society.

Del Toro directed the first short: "The Yuma," Cuban slang for "The American."

It stars Josh Hutcherson and tells the story of a young American who travels to Havana for the city's annual film festival, where "Seven Days" has been screening this week.

Del Toro spoke Friday evening at a news conference in Havana.

Based on reporting by the Associated Press.
