ACM Awards: Kelly Clarkson reveals she was mistaken for a seat filler during show

Kelly Clarkson was served a piece of humble pie at the 2019 Academy of Country Music Awards when a man mistook her for a seat filler.

Even though the 36-year-old Grammy winner performed twice during the Las Vegas awards show, she said the highlight of her night was when “some guy” asked her to move from her seat.

Clarkson shared the moment with her fans on Twitter following the ceremony, writing, “The greatest thing by far that happened to me tonight was being asked to move because some guy thought I was a seat filler at the ACM’s tonight … literally, it made my night because he was so serious …”

The mix-up is especially confusing considering that the superstar “American Idol” alum and “The Voice” judge was on the stage twice during the show, once with Jason Aldean and again with Dan + Shay to perform their ACM Award-nominated song “Keeping Score.”

Clarkson assured fans she did not take serious offense to the awkward moment, adding “I just politely said no hahaha!!”
