Alina Habba

Alina Habba is counselor to the president and was selected to serve by President Donald Trump during his second term in the White House.

She worked closely with the president for several years as part of his legal team in high-profile cases. Some of these include the 2021 case Trump filed against the New York Times and his niece Mary Trump and the 2023 case E. Jean Carroll filed against him. Habba also represented Trump when New York Attorney General Letitia James indicted him in a civil fraud suit in 2022.

Habba was born in New Jersey to Chaldean Catholic Iraqi immigrant parents. After earning a bachelor’s degree from Lehigh University, she went on to earn her law degree from Widener University in Pennsylvania.

After working as a clerk for Judge Eugene Codey Jr., she entered private practice and later opened her own New Jersey based firm, Habba Madaio & Associates LLP.

In 2025, Habba took on the role as counselor to the president which was previously held by now-Fox News contributor Kellyanne Conway during Trump’s first term in office.

Habba is a mother to three children.
