November 2, 2015 Of Porsches and Peacocks A peacock’s tail is beautiful. Magnificent plumage. Irridescent colors. Alas, it is also wasteful. It takes a tremendous amount of energy to develop. It’s heavy - an encumbrance in escaping predators. And it serves no practical function. It does however, get the peacock a lot of action. Peahens often choose their mates by the size of their trains.
