The United States has reclaimed the world record for longest Cadillac parade, ending nine years of national shame for the country where the company was founded in 1902.

As a publicity stunt for the opening of the Orleans County Fair in Barton, Vermont, a collection of 298 Cadillacs was brought together in a caravan that stretched nearly a mile down State Route 2. The gathering broke the previous record of 102, which was held by the city of Leimuiderbrug, the Netherlands. Barton is the home of Cadillac founder, Henry Leland.

The parade was led by a pink 1959 Cadillac carrying Leland's great, great, great grandnephew Doug and his wife. Many models spanning the company's history took part, including its newest, the CTS Coupe.

No word yet if Holland is hatching plans to retake the record, but for now it rests safely in American hands.
