An Oregon police officer was shot and killed late Friday while serving a warrant, police said.

The Seaside Police Department said the incident occurred at around 9:25 p.m., according to KATU news. The shooting occurred near a breakfast eatery, according to KPTV. A second officer returned fire and struck the suspect, police said.

Seaside police said the unidentified officer is 39-years-old and had been with the department for 13 years. The suspect was taken to a local hospital. The person’s condition is unknown.

According to KATU news, the Major Crimes Team is investigating the incident.
