Former President George W. Bush announced Monday that he will join 14 severely wounded U.S. servicemen and servicewomen for a mountain bike ride through sweltering deserts.

Bush complemented the group, saying, “It’s a 100-kilometer ride in the desert, and it’s not a leisurely ride. It’s a ride to herald people who were dealt a severe blow and said, I’m not going to let it tear me down.”

The bike ride, called the "Warrior 100" will span two days beginning April 25 and will also serve as the inaugural event of the Social Enterprise initiative of the George W. Bush Presidential Center, according to a press release. All the participants were either injured in Iraq or Afghanistan.
