Claudia Cowan has served as FOX News Channel’s San Francisco-based senior correspondent for more than 20 years. She joined the network as a San Francisco correspondent in 1998.
Cowan has reported extensively on the crime wave surging throughout California including the rise in drug use, homelessness and robberies. She also provided critical coverage surrounding the fatal California wildfires that have impacted the west coast in recent years. During her coverage of the 2023 Burning Man festival in Nevada, she and thousands of festival goers were left stranded on the festival grounds due to severe weather conditions.
Throughout her tenure with the network, Cowan has reported on a variety of breaking news stories, including the 2022 attack on Paul Pelosi, the husband of the 52nd Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, the hearing of convicted murderer Scott Peterson, as well the murder of Cash App founder Bob Lee in San Francisco in 2023. Additionally, Cowan covered the 2022 San Francisco school board’s recall election, COVID-19 policies, the death of American recording artist and singer Whitney Houston, as well as the 2014 death of actor Robin Williams and the 75th anniversary of the Golden Gate Bridge. She also reported on the details of several mass shootings including reporting on the ground from a Colorado nightclub shooting in 2022, on the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority in San Jose, California in 2021 and on the deadliest mass shooting in Sacramento's history in downtown Sacramento, California in 2022.
Prior to joining FNC, Cowan worked in several local markets including KRON-TV (NBC 4) in San Francisco, KOVR-TV (CBS 13) in Sacramento, and KMST-TV (CBS 32) in Monterey. She began her career at KTTV-TV (FOX 11) in Los Angeles.
